Anthem has been working closely with Southwest General to keep them in your clients’ health plan network but have not yet reached an agreement. If they don’t come to terms, Southwest General may leave the plan’s network on January 1, 2026.
If they leave, your clients’ employees may pay more for care they receive from Southwest General providers and facilities.
Anthem will be sending a notice to your clients and their employees letting them know. Below is a list of communications.
| Audience | Sample Letter & Estimated Timing |
| Employers with members who have utilized a Southwest General facility or physician in the past 12 months | Employer Notification Email (PDF) (Tuesday, December 16, 2025) |

Choosing a Provider or Care Facility in the Plan’s Network Keeps Costs Down
It’s up to the employee to choose which provider to see or care facility to use, but selecting one that’s in their plan will cost less. They can find a provider or care facility in their plan by logging in to anthem.com. They also can call Member Services at the number on their member ID card.
Employees May Pay More if They Decide to Keep Seeing a Southwest General Provider or Receive Care at Their Facilities
If the employee decides to keep seeing this provider or receiving care at this facility after December 31, 2025, they may pay more or all of the costs for the care. Some plans only cover care from providers or care facilities in the plan’s network, except in emergencies. Employees can check their plan documents to learn more.
There May Be Exceptions
An employee may be able to stay with this provider or care facility for a limited time if they are in treatment for a serious and complex condition, in the hospital, scheduled for nonelective surgery, pregnant, or terminally ill. Their plan documents include more information about continuity of care.
