Stop Loss Coverage – Gene Therapy Rider Discontinued
For all new and renewing business with an effective date on or after 02/01/24, the gene therapy rider will be removed and the cost for gene therapy will be included in specific stop loss rates. The separate gene therapy rider was originally developed several years ago around a targeted group of existing and anticipated gene therapy drugs to mitigate risk. However, as the drug space continues to evolve and more gene therapy drugs receive FDA approval, along with the associated increases in pricing and demand for these drugs, the gene therapy rider doesn’t provide the level of pricing stability that it has in years past.
Renewal language will be updated to reflect the change.
